Job Description

We are currently seeking two full-time Lawyers to join our high-profile Legal Team at the Electoral Commission. You will be part of a dynamic legal team working on varied, intellectually stimulating tasks within electoral reform, regulatory law, and public sector governance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on electoral law during major political events including UK Parliamentary, devolved parliaments, local, and mayoral elections.
  • Contribute to regulatory decisions and enforcement related to political parties and campaigners.
  • Work on drafting and implementing legislation affecting democratic processes.
  • Advise on the Commission’s wider obligations including procurement, employment, and data protection law.

Requirements

  • Fully entitled to practice law in England and Wales (Law Society or Bar Council).
  • Experience in administrative law, statutory interpretation, and advisory roles.
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply complex legislation confidently and effectively.

Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer with a solid base in public law and legal analysis.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a wider legal team.
