Job Description

We are hiring a skilled Financial Investigator to join our Proceeds of Crime and International Assistance Division at the Serious Fraud Office. You will work on major financial crime cases, conduct in-depth investigations, and collaborate internationally to trace and recover assets. This hybrid role is based in central London with flexible work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize powers under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 to obtain warrants, issue notices, and secure evidence.
  • Investigate money laundering allegations and conduct suspect interviews under caution.
  • Draft robust witness statements in high-quality written English for court proceedings.
  • Lead confiscation and restraint investigations, identifying criminal benefit and realisable assets.
  • Handle mutual legal assistance (MLA) requests and coordinate with foreign jurisdictions.
  • Support civil recovery actions, cash forfeitures, and fund freezing orders.

Requirements

  • Experience in financial investigations, asset recovery, or comparative economic crime work.
  • Ability to progress complex investigations independently and collaborate with legal teams.
  • Understanding of court order enforcement and international cooperation processes.
  • Effective communication and analytical skills with attention to legal and reputational risk.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility to work in the UK (UK nationals, certain Commonwealth and EU citizens).
  • General investigative experience related to financial or asset tracing investigations.
  • Security clearance (Security Check) required before appointment.
