Job Description
As a **Lead SWIFT Engineer**, you will play a crucial role in evolving and supporting the Bank’s Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system — the financial core of the UK economy. You’ll lead efforts on maintaining and enhancing SWIFT components, resolve major IT incidents, and ensure high-quality delivery of new features.
Responsibilities
- Lead sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement in an agile environment.
- Take ownership of incident resolution including emergency cover and weekend deployments.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge across the team.
- Monitor and support live and UAT financial messaging systems (AMH/FMG).
- Collaborate with teams to deliver new SWIFT-related features for the RTGS platform.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of ISO 20022 messaging and real-time business flows.
- Hands-on experience configuring and supporting SWIFT components like Alliance Gateway, Messaging Hub, and Transaction Delivery Agent.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking with an ability to translate technical requirements.
- Ability to lead technical delivery and manage agile ceremonies efficiently.
- Proven ability to manage and resolve major IT service incidents in operational environments.
Qualifications
- Experience delivering high-quality software and maintaining detailed technical documentation.
- Commitment to security and operational standards.
- Demonstrated leadership in a technical team environment focused on SWIFT applications.
- Experience mentoring engineering staff to enhance performance and skill development.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with automated testing frameworks.
- Ability to deploy software via Ansible and manage automation pipelines.
- Familiarity with both Linux and Windows platforms.

National Security Vetting
