Job Description

Transport for London is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manufacturing Maintenance Manager to lead operations within its Logistics and Manufacturing division. This pivotal role oversees multiple production facilities, shaping the strategic direction of manufacturing operations while ensuring safety, efficiency, and innovation across a team of 450 professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Implement lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve workflow and safety.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Drive change across people, processes, and technology in an operational setting.
  • Oversee multi-union environments and engage with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals, lead make-or-buy strategies, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Develop capacity plans and production forecasts to align with business goals.
  • Lead business-critical activities and reviews with commercial, procurement, and capital teams.
  • Ensure all workshops and plant equipment comply with legal and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing end-to-end production in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure environments.
  • Expertise in asset tendering and managing supplier interfaces.
  • Background in manufacturing plant compliance, safety, and legal operations.
  • Ability to adapt to industrial relations complexities and workforce flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Relevant business or engineering degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, procurement processes, and financial controls.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in strategic decision-making at the executive level.
  • Track record of delivering operational and business improvement plans.
  • Familiarity with railway or similar industry standards preferred.
